Contact the clinic
Ground floor on 61st Street, no step at the door. Early and Saturday appointments exist because the people who most need physical therapy are frequently the ones who cannot leave work to get it.
Some things should not wait for an appointment. A sudden change in bladder or bowel control, numbness in the saddle area, progressive weakness in a limb, fever with back pain, or new severe pain after significant trauma all mean a physician or an emergency department today rather than a booking here. If you are not sure, telephone and we will tell you plainly.
Before you book
Most people do not need a referral. New York's direct access law allows treatment without one for ten visits or thirty days, whichever comes first, and every clinician here qualifies to work under it. There are three exceptions and they matter: Workers' Compensation, No-Fault and Medicare each need a referral from the very first visit.
If yours is a No-Fault claim after a car accident, deal with the application before the appointment — the filing window runs from the date of the accident and it is the commonest way people lose a benefit they were entitled to. Bring the claim number.
Give us your insurance details when you book and we will verify the benefit before you arrive: visits allowed, visits used, your copay, and whether your plan wants a referral regardless of what state law permits.
What to bring
Clothes you can move in that give access to the part that hurts — shorts for a knee, a vest for a shoulder. Your insurance card. Any imaging reports you have, though not the discs. A referral if you are on one of the three schemes above. And a rough list of what you currently cannot do, because that is what the first hour is mostly about.

If you would rather book a specific slot with a specific therapist, the appointments page shows each clinician's real diary.
No referral needed to start — for ten visits or thirty days. New York lets a physical therapist treat you without a doctor's referral for ten visits or thirty days, whichever runs out first, provided the therapist has been licensed at least three years. Every clinician here qualifies. After that limit the law requires a referral from a physician, podiatrist, dentist or nurse practitioner before treatment continues — and we will have raised it with you well before you reach it rather than on the day. Two things people are rarely told: an evaluation on its own does not spend one of the ten, and direct access does not apply to Workers' Compensation, No-Fault or Medicare, all of which need a referral from the first visit.
Nothing here is a promise that treatment will work. Nothing on this site is a promise that treatment will work. Physical therapy has good evidence behind it for a great many musculoskeletal problems and poor evidence for a few of the things it is sold for, and we would rather tell you which of those you have than take the appointment either way. We publish no success rate, no star rating and no before-and-after photographs, because a clinic that chooses which outcomes to show is not reporting outcomes.

The booking page shows each therapist's own diary rather than a generic grid, so a slot you can see is a slot that is genuinely free. Most people do not need a doctor's referral to start — New York's direct access law runs to ten visits or thirty days — though Workers' Compensation, No-Fault and Medicare each need one from the first visit. If you are not sure which of those you are, telephone and we will work it out before you book.
